Summer Arts Academy 2008 – cultural animation

Dates: August 27 – September 6, 2008
Participants: students of European Humanities University (on-campus and low-residency, BA and MA) and other Lithuanian universities
Venue: Vilnius, Lithuania

The ‘2008 Summer Arts Academy – cultural animation is a challenging creative 10-days program of exploration of the urban Vilnius environment engaging with people and using various media and artforms. The program of the Academy is build on the theoretical and practical platform of cultural animation. This year’s Summer Arts Academy takes a form of a creative project lead by professional cultural animation practitioners & artists Ania Bas and Alicja Rogalska. The outcomes established during the Summer Arts Academy will be recorded and presented in the form of installation, intervention or a similar event in November 2008

The working languages of the Academy will be English, Russian, Belarusian, and Lithuanian.

Together with students, the 2008’ Summer Arts Academy participants will be:

• international cultural animators & artists Ania Bas and Alicja Rogalska (Poland), members of LAUNDRY association of artists (UK)
• artistic director Julija Fomina, curator of the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius
• various Lithuanian experts, citizens and guests of Vilnius
• SAA 2008 coordinator Katsiaryna Radzko, EHU PR manager
• LitPro project’s staff members

Requirements to the participants:

Be a student of EHU or another Lithuanian university;
Be eager to explore Vilnius by taking on an unusual approach and be interested in working with other people creatively;
Be ready to communicate with Ania & Alicja, other participants and people around in English, Russian, Belarusian, and preferably in Lithuanian

Submit the filled-in application form until August 1, 2008

From the side of EHU, the students of all kinds of programs (BA and MA, on-campus and low-residency) can apply. Among EHU’s BA on-campus students, the priority will be given to those ones taking part in LitPro Lithuanian language courses and actively involved in EHU community life.

Letters of admission will be sent to selected participants no later than August 5, 2008.
